Introduction to Monstera, Flower Language of Monstera

1. Family

Monstera is a perennial evergreen shrub of the Araceae family and the genus Monstera. It is also called monstera, electric wire orchid, monstera, wire orchid, and perforated philodendron. It is native to Mexico and is now widely distributed. It is also cultivated in many areas of my country.

2. Form

Monstera is a climbing shrub with green and relatively thick stems. The petiole is green and relatively long, reaching about 1 meter in length. The leaves are relatively large, with a heart-shaped oval outline. The width of an adult Monstera leaf is about 40-60 cm. The leaf surface is glossy with some holes on it. The flower is a spathe with a nearly cylindrical spadix inside, and the flower color is yellow-white.

3. Habits

Monstera likes to grow in fertile, loose sandy soil and cannot tolerate a watery and humid growing environment. It likes warmth, and the most suitable temperature for its growth is around 20-25 degrees Celsius. It cannot tolerate the cold in winter and may suffer frost damage if the temperature is below 5 degrees Celsius. It is relatively shade-tolerant, but it needs a certain amount of sunlight during its growth and cannot lack sunlight.

For propagation of Monstera, you can choose the methods of sowing, cuttings, and division, among which cuttings are the most commonly used method.
