How to propagate money grass by cuttings

How to propagate money grass by cuttings

1. Cutting time

In fact, it can be propagated by cuttings all year round, but the temperature in spring and autumn is more suitable, and the survival rate of cuttings is higher at this time, and the rooting speed is also faster. Pay attention to the temperature when taking cuttings in summer, and it is best not to do it when the temperature is high. If the temperature is above 15 degrees in winter, it can also grow well.

2. Prepare cuttings

When taking cuttings, you should choose strong stems without diseases or insect pests as cuttings. Each stem should have three or four nodes and leaves, so that rooting can take place faster. In addition, it is best to prepare a few more to avoid failure in cuttings.

3. Prepare the soil

It has a high survival rate of cuttings and can adapt to various soils. Even if you use ordinary sandy soil and keep it moist, it can still grow roots and survive. However, if you want the seeds to take root as soon as possible, it is recommended to mix peat soil with an appropriate amount of vermiculite to make nutrient soil. This can shorten the rooting time and allow the seedlings to grow better later.

4. Cutting maintenance

Once the soil is prepared, you can insert the cuttings. Don't insert it too deep, about three centimeters into the soil will be enough. Then water it thoroughly and place it where there is no refracted light. The temperature must be controlled between 18 and 22 degrees, and plenty of ventilation should be provided. It will take about a month for the plant to take root and survive.
