When to fertilize Clivia and what fertilizer is best

1. Time

It is necessary to choose the right time to fertilize Clivia. It is generally better to fertilize in the morning. Fertilization should not be done when it is too hot, so be sure to avoid noon. Spring and autumn are the peak growth periods for plants, and regular topdressing is required, usually once every 10-15 days. When the temperatures are high in summer, its growth almost stops and the frequency of fertilization should be reduced. In addition, a small amount of fertilizer can be applied in winter, mainly phosphorus and potassium fertilizers.

2. What kind of fertilizer is good?

During the maintenance of Clivia, regular top dressing is required. You can use animal bone meal, animal manure, fried castor seeds, hemp seeds, or potassium-containing charcoal, wood ash, etc. Whether it is homemade fertilizer or purchased fertilizer, it must be in a decomposed state. Raw fertilizer cannot be applied to Clivia. In spring, nitrogen fertilizer is mainly used. In summer, liquid fertilizer is generally applied. In autumn, phosphorus and potassium fertilizers should be supplemented in appropriate amounts. In winter, when it is about to bloom, fertilizers mainly containing phosphorus and potassium are applied.

3. Notes

1. When fertilizing it, do not apply fertilizer to the leaves and leaf cores, as this can easily cause rot. Also, do not apply fertilizer when the plant is diseased, as fertilizer damage will occur.

2. Fertilization is also needed when repotting. This time, the fertilization is to apply base fertilizer to the soil. You can use bean cake fertilizer, animal manure, etc. This can provide certain nutrients for the plant's later growth.
