How to repot white orchid

How to repot white orchid

1. Time

If you want to repot it, it is best to wait until the Qingming Festival, move it out of the house, and choose a pot according to the size of the tree. If it is the first time to repot it, you can use a pot with a diameter of 40 cm. If you repot it for the last time, you can use a jar or a relatively tall wooden barrel. Generally, you should repot it once every two years. If the tree is relatively large, you can repot it once every three or four years. The shape of the pot should be enlarged every year. When it grows to more than two meters in height, you only need to change the soil without repotting.

2. Before repotting

If you want to change the pot, you should water the surrounding areas of the pot the day before to help the soil in the pot break away from the original pot. You can also dig out the soil around the edge of the pot and take out the original potting soil together with the white orchid. Use a shovel to shovel a circle of soil around it, hold it with one hand, slowly tip the pot upside down, use your hand to push the soil through the air holes, and remove some old or rotten roots. This will help it grow new branches and more flowers, and then move it to a new pot.

3. Notes

When you change the pot, cover the drainage holes at the bottom of the pot with tiles and lay some rough stones to help it drain and breathe. Then put some culture soil in it. The soil only needs to cover its root neck, and the surface soil should be three or four centimeters away from the mouth of the pot.

The soil should be loose and breathable, preferably sandy soil, and should be acidic. If alkaline soil or water is used, it will not grow well or even die. You can plant it with a mixture of a little bone meal, garden soil, rotten leaves, etc. Water it thoroughly, use discarded columns to support it to prevent it from being blown down by the wind, and use something to provide shade for it.

During this period, keep the soil moist, but do not water too much, otherwise the roots will rot. After repotting, be sure to water it thoroughly for the first time, and wait until it is completely dry before watering it a second time. You can usually spray water on the leaves. If you buy the white orchid from somewhere else, you should trim it first and then put it in a pot immediately. Do not remove the original soil on the roots. Wait until it recovers before exposing it to light.
