Can hyacinth bloom in the same year after planting? Can hyacinth survive after blooming?

1. Can it bloom in the same year after planting?

If you buy hyacinth bulbs directly, as long as the bulbs are healthy and plump, they will bloom in the same year after about 70-80 days. If it is a small bulb that is divided, it will not be able to bloom in the same year and it will need to be cared for for at least three years before it can grow and bloom. If the cultivated bulb does not bloom for a while, there is no need to worry, just continue to care for it carefully. Generally speaking, the flowering period of hyacinth is around February and March every year. If normal maintenance is ensured, it will bloom in February in northern homes and in March in southern homes.

2. Can it survive after flowering?

Hyacinth is still alive after it blooms, but the flowers just wither. After the flowers wither, they will not bloom a second time in the same year. However, hyacinths do not bloom once in their lifetime. After the flowers wither, you can first cut off the remaining flowers and flower stems. When the leaves are basically withered, you can cut off the above-ground part and then take out the bulbs inside. Wash the hyacinth bulbs, dry them and store them in a cool and dry place, or wrap them in newspaper and store them in the refrigerator. Wait until autumn and replant the hyacinth. It will still bloom, but the amount will be less.
