How to DIY ivy bonsai

How to DIY ivy bonsai

Prepare the Materials

Abandoned wine jar (the one I have at home is a bit old, it can be recycled!), dead bamboo or rotten wood, foam, coal slag, a few branches of ivy, appropriate soil, palm fiber or moss, scissors, and a small iron bar.

Preparation method

Fill

In fact, the steps are very simple, just fill the wine tank. First stuff foam at the bottom of the tank, this will save a lot of soil! Then put the wood in, keeping the bottom empty and unobstructed. Then coal slag, palm fibers, etc. were added.

Put ivy

After putting the soil in place, plant the prepared ivy, which requires a lot of effort.

Arrangement, cleaning

After planting the ivy, wash the soil around the wine vat, clean up the branches, leaves and soil on the ground, and then pour some water in the wine vat. You will feel much more energetic the next day.

prune

After 1 week, the ivy can basically grow normally, but it is always unpleasant to look at those dead branches. You can cut them off directly to prevent the dead branches from consuming nutrients.

The bonsai is done. Although it doesn’t look particularly beautiful, it’s still a good idea to use the discarded wine jar. Everyone has idle small pots at home that can be used for anything. A large pot can be used to plant large plants, and a small pot can be used to plant small plants. As long as you are satisfied, that's all.
