Breeding methods and precautions of Fenglan

1. Maintenance methods

1. Soil: Wind orchid prefers to grow in sandy soil. It needs sufficient nutrients and humus for its growth. The prepared soil should be slightly acidic. It can be prepared with humus + coarse sand + garden soil, which is very beneficial to its growth.

2. Temperature: Wind orchid will grow better under warmer conditions. It is best to keep the maintenance temperature between 15-30℃. It is afraid of heat and will grow poorly when the temperature exceeds 35℃ in summer. It is best to keep it in a cool place indoors.

3. Light: It grows better in a cool environment, especially in the summer. It cannot be exposed to the sun and needs to be shaded. It is best to maintain it indoors, but make sure the ventilation conditions of the maintenance environment are good.

4. Watering: There is less rain in spring and the sunlight is relatively mild, so just let the plants roam outdoors. When the weather is dry in summer, you need to water more appropriately. It is best to water in the morning and evening. There is no need to water it in winter, as winter is its dormant period. Just make sure it is not damaged by frost.

2. Breeding techniques

1. Ventilation: During normal maintenance, try to ensure the ventilation of the maintenance environment, which can effectively reduce the breeding of diseases and insects and ensure healthy growth. If you are raising it outdoors, there is no need to worry at all. However, those who are raising it indoors need to open the windows frequently for ventilation.

2. Reproduction: Wind orchid is generally propagated by division, preferably in spring and autumn. Before dividing it, you need to stop watering for a few days to make it easier to remove. When potting, make sure the soil is moist. After dividing, water it thoroughly and then keep it in a cool place for about ten days to half a month.

3. Problem diagnosis and treatment

1. White rot: This disease is more common in the rainy season, especially when the maintenance environment is poorly ventilated, which will increase the chance of the disease occurring. It can be prevented by sprinkling lime. If the disease is serious, the plants need to be destroyed.

2. Scale insects: This is a type of pest that reproduces relatively quickly, especially in conditions of poor ventilation. It is extremely harmful to plants and should be killed with 1% oxydemeton-methyl solution in the early stages of discovery. If the pest is relatively minor, you can brush it off with a small brush.

IV. Other issues

1. Can it be grown indoors: According to its growth habits, it can be grown indoors, because it does not require too much sunlight to grow. Just pay attention to the ventilation of the maintenance environment during normal maintenance.

2. How many times does it bloom in a year? Wind orchids are the same as many ordinary flowers. They only bloom once a year. It blooms in April every year and the flowers are pure white. If you miss its flowering period, you will have to wait until next year.
