How to cultivate Rhubarb

How to cultivate Rhubarb

1. Soil

Rhubarb is more suitable for cultivation on sandy soil with deep soil layer, fertile soil, loose soil and good drainage performance. Avoid continuous cropping, otherwise it will lead to variety degeneration and slow growth.

2. Planting

Usually propagated by seeds. Seedlings are raised around the Qingming Festival, the land is plowed and ridges are made, and furrows are dug every 20 cm along the ridges. Then plant the seeds in the furrows, cover them with soil using a hoe, and wait for them to germinate.

3. Lighting

Adequate light and lighting should be maintained all year round. Adequate sunlight can promote its metabolism and increase its medicinal value. Otherwise, developmental delay or even growth withering may occur.

4. Fertilization

After planting the seeds, apply sufficient base fertilizer, and apply urea and fertilizer in time during the growth period and after the harvest, about 10 kilograms per mu is appropriate. In winter, before the soil freezes, cold water should be applied and a layer of fertilizer should be covered on top to allow the old roots to safely survive the winter.

5. Watering

A slightly humid environment is beneficial to its health and it is more resistant to drought. Keeping the bed surface moist before germination can increase the germination rate. During the rainy season, attention should be paid to drainage to prevent the occurrence of root disorder.

6. Notes

1. The surrounding weeds should be removed in time to prevent their nutrients from being robbed.

2. Attention should be paid to timely loosening and disinfection of the soil, and continuous cropping should be avoided.
