How to cultivate Aster

How to cultivate Aster

1. Soil:

Aster has strong adaptability to soil and can be cultivated in all soils except saline-alkali soils. However, it is better to choose sandy loam with fertile texture and good drainage as the cultivation site.

2. Watering:

Aster is a shallow-rooted crop that is afraid of drought and resistant to waterlogging. Watering is required regularly during the cultivation period. When the weather is hot and dry, the watering frequency can be increased to ensure the moisture required for growth.

3. Temperature:

Aster likes warm and humid environment and is quite cold-resistant. The temperature during cultivation should not be too high, preferably not exceeding 25℃.

4. Lighting:

Aster is light-loving by nature and can receive light all day long when the sunlight is mild. If the light is strong, shade should be provided to prevent the plants from being burned by strong light.

5. Notes:

1. Diseases:

The main diseases of aster are root rot and black spot. It mainly harms the base of the plant stem and the rhizome, causing leaf death and rhizome rot. In the early stage of the disease, it can be controlled by spraying 1000 times diluted 50% methyl thiophanate wettable powder.

2. Pests:

The main insect pest is the Spodoptera exigua. They will gnaw on the leaves and young branches of Aster, harming the young leaves, branches and flowers of Aster, and affecting the growth of Aster. It can be controlled by spraying insecticides or by using trapping and killing techniques.
