What to do if the lotus leaves turn yellow

What to do if the lotus leaves turn yellow

1. Reasonable fertilization

Fertilizing the water lily needs to be done step by step and not in a rush. Too much fertilizer, especially nitrogen, can cause yellowing leaves. When too much fertilizer is applied, a large amount of overflow watering will be required to dilute the fertilizer.

Lack of fertilizer can also cause yellow leaves. If there is a lack of fertilizer, fertilizer should be applied in a timely and reasonable manner. Before planting, a small amount of fermented bean curd can be added to the potting soil as base fertilizer.

2. Adequate lighting

Insufficient light may cause the leaves of the lotus to turn yellow. Since the leaves cannot carry out photosynthesis normally, chlorophyll synthesis will be affected, causing the leaves to turn yellow. Therefore, you must ensure that it has sufficient sunlight exposure, place it in a location where it can be exposed to sunlight, and change its position in time according to changes in the sun. While ensuring sufficient light, avoid exposure to the sun and block strong light during the day.

3. Increase the temperature

A sudden drop in temperature or a large temperature difference in winter may cause the leaves of the water lily to turn yellow. When its leaves turn yellow due to low temperature, you should take insulation measures in time. The container where the plants are planted must be filled with water. It is best to cover the mouth of the container with a layer of plastic paper to prevent the plants from frostbite. Open the plastic paper for ventilation when appropriate. If necessary, move it to a room with a suitable temperature.
