How to cultivate Elsholtzia

How to cultivate Elsholtzia

1. Soil:

Elsholtzia is not very demanding in terms of soil. It is best to choose soil with loose texture, sheltered from the wind, facing the sun, and with good drainage for planting. Do not use alkaline soil or sandy soil for cultivation.

2. Fertilization:

The growing period of Elsholtzia ciliata is relatively short, so topdressing should be applied in time and in the form of strip application. At the same time, organic fertilizer should be used as the main fertilizer, and attention should be paid to the combination of organic and inorganic fertilizers.

3. Watering:

Elsholtzia likes moisture, but not too much water during the seedling stage. The time before and after Elsholtzia blooms is when it needs the most water. You can increase the frequency of watering to ensure adequate water supply.

4. Temperature:

The growth rate of Elsholtzia ciliata will accelerate as the temperature rises, while too low temperature will slow down the growth and development of Elsholtzia ciliata. During the cultivation period, the temperature should be controlled at 25-28℃.

5. Notes:

The main disease of Elsholtzia is root rot. Root rot can cause brown spots to appear on the roots and root necks of plants, and they will shrink, turn yellow and die. You can scrub the roots with 60-degree white wine and replant them. Common insect pests are cutworms. Cutworms will bite off tender stems, causing seedlings to wilt and die, resulting in seedling shortages. They can be controlled by spraying insecticides or by using trapping and killing techniques. This can ensure the growth and quality of Elsholtzia to the greatest extent.
