How to grow wild papaya

1. Soil:

Wild papaya has strong adaptability and is not picky about soil, so it can grow in general soil. However, it is best cultivated on loose, fertile, well-drained slightly acidic to neutral loam.

2. Fertilization:

In the early stage of wild papaya, organic fertilizers such as soil and manure should be used as base fertilizer, and foliar fertilizers such as boron fertilizer and foliar treasure should be applied in the later stage of flowering.

3. Watering:

Wild papaya requires a lot of water during its growth period. Timely watering can accelerate the growth of wild papaya. After it bears fruit, the number of watering can be reduced.

4. Temperature:

Wild papaya is not cold-resistant and is extremely susceptible to frost damage. It is suitable for survival in high temperature environments, and the best temperature range for it is 22-25℃.

5. Pest and disease control:

Wild papaya has strong resistance and generally will not appear as long as it is fertilized properly and pruned on time. Common diseases include leaf blight and dry rot. Leaf blight, bark blight, etc. For dry rot, spray with 1:2:200 Bordeaux mixture; for bark blight, scrape off the diseased part and fumigate with sulfur or apply lime sulfur mixture. Pests include longhorn beetles and aphids, which can be effectively treated with insecticides such as omethoate. They can also be controlled by using trapping and killing techniques to lure and kill them.
