How to grow black and purple sunflower

How to grow black and purple sunflower

1. Soil

It is best to use loose and fertile soil for growing black purple sunflowers. The soil should be less sticky, and it is best to use peat soil when sowing.

2. Lighting

Black and purple sunflowers prefer plenty of light. If grown indoors, they need to be grown on the balcony, avoiding shade and semi-shade conditions. Insufficient sunlight can cause problems such as soft leaves, weak stems, and small flower disks.

3. Temperature

Black purple sunflower has a strong adaptability to temperature and prefers a warm environment. The most suitable temperature for its growth is 18-30℃. It can grow healthily in an environment not lower than 10℃. If the temperature difference between day and night can be kept within 8-10℃, it will be more conducive to the growth of stems and leaves.

4. Watering

Water frequently during the seedling stage and the period of vigorous growth, 2-3 times a day, but drain the water in time and do not allow water to accumulate to avoid root rot. Water appropriately during the flowering period to ensure that there is neither drought nor waterlogging.

5. Fertilization

Black and purple sunflowers prefer sufficient nutrients and should be fertilized once every 7-10 days during the growing season. Nitrogen fertilizer is mainly used in the seedling stage. Adding some phosphorus and potassium fertilizers after the flower buds appear can help the development of flowers and facilitate flowering. Appropriate addition of fertilizer can prevent the branches and leaves from becoming weak and the leaves from turning yellow.

VI. Pest and disease control

Spraying pesticides in time during the breeding process or treating the soil with insecticides before planting can effectively control the occurrence of diseases and pests. If you find any insect infestations, deal with them immediately to avoid causing further damage to the plants.
