How to grow gardenia in autumn

How to grow gardenia in autumn

1. Lighting

Gardenia cannot be exposed to the scorching sun, nor can it be in full shade. Generally speaking, the light in autumn is not particularly strong. But sometimes the light at noon is also very strong, so you need to block it appropriately. At other times when the light is not strong, it can receive light. The light intensity should be kept at around 60%.

2. Humidity

What we are talking about here is the humidity in the air. It cannot be lower than 70%, otherwise there will be problems with the growth of the plants. In addition to spraying the surface of the leaves, you can also spray the ground.

3. Fertilizer

There are many types of fertilizers available, as long as they are fermented. For example, bean cakes, peanut butter and the like. Pay attention to the comprehensiveness of fertilizer types. If only nitrogen fertilizer is used, it will not be easy to bloom; if too much phosphorus fertilizer or potassium fertilizer is used, it will also cause the flowers to fall off.

4. Temperature

The best range is between 18 and 22 degrees. Autumn generally meets the needs, and if the temperature is occasionally too high, adjustments should be made.

5. Pruning

The branches tend to be too dense, so the nutrition supply is insufficient. Generally speaking, especially after flowering, pruning should be carried out to shorten most branches to facilitate subsequent growth.

6. Disease prevention and control

Chlorosis is prone to occur, which will affect the formation of chlorophyll. Usually, it is caused by iron deficiency. It can be supplemented with ferrous sulfate water, about once every ten days.
