Does the red spider lily prefer acidity or alkalinity? How to grow the red spider lily dug in the wild

1. Acid-loving or alkaline-loving

Red spider lily likes acid and grows poorly in an alkaline environment. If the soil is severely salinized, the plant may not even survive. If there is no acidic soil, you can regularly water it with alum fertilizer water or ferrous sulfate solution. Both can adjust the pH value and make the soil slightly acidic, but as fertilizers, the concentration must be controlled.

2. How to raise

1. Soil: Although the red spider lily has low requirements for soil and can survive in many places, if you want it to grow faster, you must plant it in loose and fertile soil. The soil dug from the wild cannot be used directly. It needs to be disinfected or special culture soil needs to be purchased. If you prepare it yourself, you will need to use peat soil, garden soil and river sand to ensure that the soil has good drainage.

2. Light: Red spider lily is afraid of strong light, so it should be kept in semi-shade so that it can receive scattered light. Too much light will cause the plant to lose water and wilt. If there is insufficient light, the plant may grow too tall and fall over, and it will not be conducive to flowering. In winter, because the temperature is relatively low and the light is very soft, you can put it in a sunny place to raise the temperature and allow it to survive the winter better.

3. Watering: Red spider lily needs an appropriate amount of water to grow. If you water too much, it will affect the breathing of the bulbs, and in severe cases it will cause them to rot. If you water too little, the plant will not get enough water to grow, which will also affect its development. In spring and autumn, you can water more appropriately to keep the soil moist. In summer and winter, water should be controlled appropriately.

4. Fertilization: Any plant needs nutrients to grow, and red spider lily is no exception. When potting, you need to add a small amount of base fertilizer to the soil to continuously provide nutrients. During its vigorous growth period, it should be watered with a thin layer of cake fertilizer every 15 days. After the plant enters its dormant period, stop fertilizing, otherwise it will cause fertilizer damage.
