Daylily Flower Language

Daylily Flower Language

Flower Language

Everyone knows that carnations are a symbol of maternal love, but our country also has a mother's flower, that is daylily. The meaning of daylily is to love you forever, mother!

Daylily is also known as forget-me-not, which means "forget all unpleasant things", so its flower language also includes "forgotten love".

The third flower language of daylily is to let go of him (her), let go of sorrow, and hide your mood.

Cultural legends

Legend has it that before the Dazexiang Uprising, Chen Sheng's family was very poor and he often did not have enough food. Chen Sheng had to go out to beg for a living, but due to malnutrition, he suffered from systemic edema and often suffered from unbearable bloating and pain.

One day, Chen Sheng went to the doorstep of a mother and daughter named Huang to beg for food. Grandma Huang was a kind-hearted person. Seeing that Chen Sheng was so skinny from hunger, she let him in and personally cooked three bowls of steamed daylilies for him to eat. Chen Sheng, who had been starving and cold for several days, immediately devoured the delicious daylilies. A few days later, his edema gradually got better. Chen Sheng was very grateful to the mother and daughter of the Huang family, and secretly vowed to find a chance to repay them in the future!

After the victory of the Dazexiang Uprising, Chen Sheng became king, but he did not forget the mother and daughter of the Huang family who had helped him, so he ordered people to invite them into the palace and set up banquets for them every day. However, no matter how many delicious dishes there were, they could not arouse Chen Sheng's appetite. Suddenly, Chen Sheng remembered the three bowls of daylilies he had eaten that year, so he asked Granny Huang to make another bowl for him. So Granny Huang picked daylilies herself and steamed them for him. After taking a bite, Chen Sheng said, "What's going on? It doesn't taste as good as it used to. This is so strange." Granny Huang said, "Actually, there's nothing strange about it. It's true that daylilies smell good when you're hungry, but taste bitter when you're used to eating meat and wine!" After hearing Granny Huang's words, Chen Sheng was so ashamed that he kept bowing to himself. Granny Huang hurriedly said, "No way! No way!" and helped Chen Sheng up.

From then on, Chen Sheng kept the mother and daughter of the Huang family in the palace, and specialized in growing daylilies and eating them often. At the same time, he also gave daylilies two names, "forget-me-not" and "daylily".

The news soon spread among the people, and people began to use the roots of the grass to treat edema. Later, it was discovered by doctors and became a commonly used Chinese medicine.

The above is the flower language and cultural legend of daylily!
