Is sugarcane a fruit? When is sugarcane planted?

Is sugarcane a fruit? When is sugarcane planted?

1. Not a fruit

There have been many theories about it, some people think it is a fruit. In fact, whether from the botanical definition or the dictionary definition, it is not a fruit, but a solid, tall herb. From a biological point of view, what we eat is its stem, just like eating sweet potatoes. It is a stem-eating plant, not a fruit.

In daily life, it is not a big deal that we define it as fruit. It can be said that although it is not a fruit, there is indeed fruit sugarcane. It is the main sugar crop and can be divided into two categories. One is sugar cane and the other is fruit cane. Sugar cane is naturally used to produce sugar, and it tastes bad when eaten raw, while fruit cane can be eaten directly, has a good taste, and has moisture similar to fruit.

Planting Month

It is usually planted between February and April in spring, and no later than April. However, some areas choose to plant in autumn, mostly between August and September, and it is best to start planting in late August. Those planted in spring will mature between May and July, while those planted in autumn will have to wait until December. The greater the temperature difference in the growing area, the better its quality will be, the sweeter it tastes, the higher the sugar content and the higher the yield.
