Water lily pests

aphid

During the growth and development period of water lilies, if there is insufficient light and poor ventilation, they will grow weak and be easily harmed by aphids. When insect pests are found, you can spray them with a 1200 times aqueous solution of DDT, or kill them with tobacco leaf water.

Water lily moth

The water moth, also known as the cotton moth, damages the leaves of water lilies with its larvae, biting the leaves into two pieces of equal size, then spinning silk to overlap the leaves to make a protective sheath in which it lives. With the help of the blades, it can float freely on the water. After the protective sheath dries, a new sheath is built. The larvae mostly feed at night. The larvae mature between August and September, often closing the two leaves together and then spinning silk to form a white oval cocoon pupa.
