How to grow rosemary on the balcony, what should you pay attention to

1. Sunlight requirements

Rosemary can be grown on the balcony and needs to be exposed to sufficient light during the growing season. If you keep it at home and the environment is too shady, the plant will grow too tall and the branches and leaves will become sparse and weak. Placing it on the balcony and giving it sufficient light can improve its growth and promote the health of the plant. However, you need to be careful not to expose the plants to direct sunlight during midsummer, as this may cause the plants to become weak and powerless, seriously affecting their subsequent growth and development.

2. Provide soil

It likes alkaline soil. In order to grow well, it needs to provide well-drained sandy soil with certain nutrients. Do not use heavy, compacted soil, otherwise it will hinder its later growth.

3. Temperature range

The temperature should be kept in an environment of 20-30℃, and the growth is better within this range. It can survive cold climates and can even withstand temperatures as low as -5 degrees Celsius, but its growth rate will be slowed down.

4. Apply fertilizer

Rosemary does not require much fertilizer and can be fertilized three times a year. Fertilizers need to be applied during the seedling stage, mainly nitrogen fertilizers. Fertilizer should be applied once during the growth period, and it should be sufficient to meet the growth needs. Adding fertilizer once in late autumn and early winter can provide reserves for the coming winter.
