Cultivation methods and precautions of Axillary Lip Orchid

Cultivation methods and precautions of Axillary Lip Orchid

1. Maintenance methods

1. Light: Axillary lip orchid likes sunlight very much, and it is best to give it light all day when growing it. Just provide some shade when the sun is scorching in the summer.

2. Watering: Since it has a certain water storage capacity, watering only needs to be done when the soil is dry. It will absorb as much water as it needs on its own, so be careful to avoid water accumulation.

3. Fertilization: During the growth period of Axillary Lip Orchid, it has a great demand for fertilizer. Basically, liquid fertilizer should be applied once a week to ensure that it has the nutrients needed for normal growth.

4. Temperature: The temperature most suitable for its growth is 20-30℃. If it is planted in the southern region, it can spend the winter outdoors. In northern areas, try to keep it indoors during the winter to avoid frostbite.

2. Breeding techniques

1. Reproduction: The main method of reproduction is division, which is best carried out in spring and summer. When propagating by division, divide its bulb into 3-5 portions and replant them.

2. Repotting: After entering the growth period, its growth rate is very fast. When repotting, you need to be extra careful with its root system. After taking out the plant and trimming the roots, you can put it back in the pot. After repotting, you need to water it thoroughly.

3. Problem diagnosis and treatment

1. Leaf blight: Brown spots will appear on the leaves in the early stage of the disease, and then turn black. In severe cases, the entire leaf will be damaged. The diseased leaves should be removed promptly and sprayed with 600-800 times of 50% thiophanate-methyl solution once every ten days.

2. Scale insects: Insect pests are also relatively common. In the early stage of discovery, they need to be sprayed with 40% Suposha 1000 solution as soon as possible. When spraying, be sure to spray both sides of the leaves and spray 3-4 times in a row.

IV. Other issues

1. Can it be grown indoors: Axillary Lip Orchid can be grown indoors. It not only has a chocolate-like scent, but also can prevent radiation.

2. Is it poisonous? There is no toxicity in the axillary lip orchid, and its fragrance is very strong. If you grow a small plant, the whole house will be fragrant.
