Cultivation methods and precautions of Huoshan Dendrobium

1. Maintenance methods

1. Potting soil: It has very high requirements for soil, which needs to be clean, sterile, breathable, loose and well-drained. Such soil needs to be difficult to find, but it is possible to prepare it yourself. Choose charcoal, moss, fern roots, dry bark, and stones and mix them together in the ratio of 2:2:1:3:1.

2. Water: Huoshan Dendrobium likes moist soil, but do not irrigate it too much. Watering once every two days is enough. In the hot summer, irrigate three times a day, and in the winter, irrigate once when the pot is completely dry.

3. Nutrients: Applying fertilizer is also a key step. Too much nutrients will affect growth, and too little nutrients will also affect growth. Therefore, you must pay attention to controlling the amount of fertilizer. Generally, liquid fertilizer can be used once every 30 days or so.

4. Sunlight: It does not require much sunlight. In order for it to grow better, it needs to be shaded during maintenance.

2. Breeding techniques

1. Pruning: When collecting Dendrobium before it sprouts in spring, cut off the dead branches and dense stems and leaves. This can promote the absorption of nutrients by branches and leaves and accelerate the growth of sprouts.

2. Reproduction: Huoshan Dendrobium is generally propagated by division. Select mother plants that are healthy and have been cultivated for more than three years for division. This makes it easier to succeed.

3. Problem diagnosis and treatment

1. Black spot disease: Black spot disease is a common disease. At this time, all branches and leaves affected by black spot disease should be pruned off, and then thiophanate-methyl wettable powder should be diluted with water for spraying.

2. Thrips: If thrips appear in Huoshan Dendrobium, you should use chlorpyrifos emulsion mixed with water to spray and kill them. Just spray once every seven days until all the thrips are killed.

IV. Other issues

1. How to spend the winter: When winter comes, move the Huoshan Dendrobium indoors for cultivation. The temperature should be controlled between 10-15℃, and pay attention to shade and ventilation.

2. Can it be placed indoors? Huoshan Dendrobium can be placed indoors. It has ornamental value, beautiful colors and is suitable for cultivation.
