Cultivation methods and precautions of red leaf sedum

Cultivation methods and precautions of red leaf sedum

1. Maintenance methods

1. Light: Because red-leaf sedum likes light, it needs to be provided with a longer period of light when it is cultivated. It is necessary to ensure that it has about ten hours of sunlight every day. If the duration is insufficient, artificial lighting can be used as appropriate.

2. Temperature: Red Leaf Sedum prefers to grow in a relatively warm environment, so when cultivating it, you need to choose a place with a temperature of 10℃-20℃ for cultivation.

3. Water: When it just starts to grow, it needs a lot of water to promote the germination of its buds. After the initial growth period, you can reduce the amount of watering appropriately to ensure a relatively dry environment. It is highly adaptable to dry environments, but cannot survive for long in waterlogged environments.

4. Soil: Red Leaf Sedum does not have high requirements for soil, as long as it is sandy soil with good drainage.

2. Breeding Methods

1. Division: This is one of the simplest ways of propagation. You just need to cut out new rhizomes, plant them in the soil, keep them warm, and wait for them to survive.

2. Cutting: In the summer of each year, cut the newly grown branches and insert them into the soil, and provide them with a relatively cool environment. It won't be long before they take root and survive.

3. Problem diagnosis and treatment

1. Pests: Red-leaf Sedum is extremely resistant to diseases and pests. If minor pests appear occasionally, you can just kill them with a small brush. When the disease spreads in large quantities, it can be treated by spraying diluted chlorpyrifos emulsion.

2. Root rot: If root rot occurs during the breeding process, the soil should be replaced with one with good drainage in time and the amount of watering should be reduced appropriately. Please re-breed if the situation is serious.

IV. Other issues

1. Flowering period: The flowering period of Sedum multiflorum is very long, and can usually last up to eight months. It has very high ornamental value when planted in large quantities.

2. Turning the soil: When growing red leaf sedum in pots, the pot needs to be turned over and the soil changed once a year. It should be stored in a cold room or cellar in winter and can be managed in a rough manner at other times.
