Cucumber is a typical thermophilic crop with strict requirements on the temperature of the growing environment. Cucumber grows best in an environment of 18 to 32 degrees Celsius. Farmers should arrange the time of cucumber transplanting reasonably according to local temperature changes to ensure that the ground temperature is suitable. Let’s learn about the cultivation techniques and management methods of cucumbers. 1. Planting technology 1. Land preparation and fertilization Use organic fertilizer as the main fertilizer and chemical fertilizer as the supplementary fertilizer to ensure the balance of soil nutrients. Apply 5,000 kg of decomposed organic fertilizer, 20 kg of urea, 75 kg of superphosphate and 30 kg of potassium sulfate per mu. Deeply plow the land 30-40 cm to ensure that the soil and fertilizer are evenly mixed, and make ridges with a width of 1.2 meters, with 10-15 cm high ridges in the ridges and a ridge spacing of 50 cm. 2. Four-film covering In early spring, greenhouses use four-film covering technology, including greenhouse film, skylight film and small arch film, to increase ground temperature. Cover the greenhouse film 20 days before transplanting, and hang the canopy 5-7 days before transplanting. 3. Planting at the right time Spray fungicide on the seedbed before transplanting and choose a sunny morning for transplanting. The "water-stabilized seedling" method is adopted, and about 3,500 plants are planted per acre. 2. Field management of cucumber 1. Temperature management After transplanting, immediately cover the greenhouse to increase the ground temperature, and there is no need to ventilate the seedlings during the acclimatization period. Ventilate the room appropriately according to weather conditions to maintain a suitable temperature range. 2. Loosening the soil After the cucumber seedlings have grown, tillage and loosen the soil 3-4 times to promote root development. 3. Reasonable watering After planting, water the seedlings to help them grow, and then adjust the watering frequency according to soil moisture and weather. 4. Apply fertilizer at the right time During the fruit-bearing period, top dressing should be carried out in combination with watering, with 3 kg of urea and 5 kg of potassium sulfate applied per mu each time. 5. Humidity control Control the relative humidity in the greenhouse below 85%, use fog-reducing greenhouse film, close the greenhouse and increase the temperature after watering in the morning on sunny days, and ventilate and dehumidify in time. 6. Plant adjustment Use ropes to fix the plants, remove side vines in time, and pinch the tops appropriately to promote the growth of the melon. 7. Remove the arch shed Remove the small shed 15-20 days after planting, and gradually remove the canopy as the outside temperature rises. In general, during the planting process, cucumbers have specific requirements for water and soil moisture. The soil moisture needs to be maintained at 60-70% during the seedling stage and 80-90% during the fruiting stage. I hope this information is helpful to growers.
