How to grow bird's eye orchid

How to grow bird's eye orchid

1. Maintenance methods

1. Temperature: In warm places, its growth will be relatively vigorous and the quality of its flowering will be better. Generally speaking, between fifteen and thirty degrees is most suitable. If it is too hot or too cold, it needs to be adjusted. The upper limit in summer is 35 degrees, and the lower limit in winter is 5 degrees.

2. Light: Bird's Tongue Orchid is a shade-loving variety and is very afraid of strong light. Therefore, a little light is enough to meet its requirements at normal times. In summer, you can directly place it in a cool environment or take shading measures. In winter, shading is generally not necessary.

3. Watering: Since the roots of the bird's tongue orchid are fleshy, it is afraid of waterlogging. Therefore, just keep the substrate slightly moist, and never allow water to accumulate. Also, pay attention to timely drainage. Furthermore, water must be controlled in winter.

4. Fertilization: Bird's tongue orchid has certain requirements for nutrients. Top dressing can be done once every half a month, and the original nutrients in the soil must also be sufficient.

2. Breeding techniques

1. Reproduction: A common way is division. It can be done in spring or autumn. For a plant, it is best to divide it every three years or so. When dividing the plant, make sure that each part has at least five pseudobulbs. The next step is to choose the right matrix. After selecting, you can plant it and then place it in a cool place. After about ten days, you will slowly get used to it.

2. Repotting: It is best to replace the old soil every one or two years. The specific requirements are good air permeability, good drainage performance and sufficient nutrients. Generally speaking, humus soil and sandy soil are good choices. When repotting, you can also repair the root system.

3. Problem diagnosis and treatment

1. Disease: In summer and autumn, a common disease is "anthracnose", which can cause great damage to leaves and flowers. It can be treated with carbendazim, and at the same time, pay attention to dealing with the fallen leaves and flowers around it.

2. Pests: Common ones include "red spiders", "aphids" and so on. Generally speaking, the number is relatively large and can be controlled by spraying pesticides.

IV. Other issues

1. Toxicity: Bird's-eye orchid is not poisonous and there is no relevant record.

2. Can it be grown at home? Yes, it can also be used for ornamental purposes and placed at home as a potted plant.
