How to grow potatoes

How to grow potatoes

1. Maintenance methods

1. Temperature: The range of 15 to 25 degrees is most suitable for leaf growth, but the suitable temperature for tuber growth is between 16 and 18 degrees. Because it has high temperature requirements, if the appropriate temperature is not provided, its growth will be seriously affected. If the temperature is above 25 degrees, its tubers will stop growing.

2. Light: Potatoes are afraid of strong light. During the growth period, appropriate light exposure time is necessary, otherwise the quality of the fruit will be affected and the taste will not be good. Strong light must be avoided, otherwise the leaves may dry out.

3. Watering: Potatoes like moisture and need a moist soil environment during the growth period. However, when it rains a lot in summer, the accumulated water in the ground must be drained in time, otherwise it will harm the root system.

4. Fertilization: Fertilizer plays a relatively large role in the growth of potatoes and can effectively increase yields. Base fertilizer is very important, and the subsequent topdressing should mainly be organic fertilizer.

2. Breeding techniques

1. Reproduction: It can be done by sowing. Generally speaking, March is the best month for sowing. Before sowing, you need to choose a suitable location and carry out appropriate tillage and land preparation before sowing. After the seeds are collected, they need to be stored for a period of time before being sown. The thickness of the cultivation soil should not be less than twelve centimeters as much as possible, and it needs to be covered with a certain thickness of soil, otherwise it will affect the subsequent growth.

2. Pruning: The branches and leaves of potatoes can be properly trimmed, but not too often. More importantly, when pests and diseases occur, or when dry and yellow leaves appear, they must be cut off as soon as possible.

3. Problem diagnosis and treatment

1. Disease: There may be "ring rot", which is caused by a virus. This disease may occur throughout its growth process. The infected parts can be cut off and then sprayed with medicine. There are also "viral diseases" that are contagious and therefore very harmful. They can be prevented and treated with drugs such as VirusBene.

2. Pests: If there are aphids, omethoate is effective. There are also "ladybugs" that will eat leaves and fruits. Generally, using dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane is effective. There will also be "grubs", which are often controlled with chlorpyrifos.

IV. Other issues

1. Toxicity: It itself is non-toxic and the fruit is edible, but the sprouted potatoes are poisonous.

2. Can it be grown at home: It can be grown at home as a potted plant.
