1. Maintenance methods1. Light: Dancing orchid is very sensitive to light. Strong light can burn the plant, causing the leaves to turn yellow and even cause anthracnose. Lack of light will cause reduced photosynthesis and cause the leaves to grow too long. It needs to be placed in a semi-shaded place to receive a certain amount of scattered light. In winter, it can be placed in a sunny place to receive light, but not for too long. 2. Temperature: The suitable growth temperature for dancing orchid is between 18-25℃. Both high and low temperatures are detrimental to its growth. When the temperature is below 10℃, the plants may be frostbitten. High temperature environments require proper ventilation, and attention should also be paid to cooling, otherwise it will cause buds to fall. 3. Watering: Dancing orchid prefers a dry environment. Water the plant after the soil surface is dry to avoid long-term dampness in the soil which may breed various bacteria. During the peak growing season, watering can be increased appropriately to once in the morning and evening every day, while watering can be reduced in winter. 4. Fertilization: Dancing orchid can be applied with liquid fertilizer 2-3 times a month to promote its growth. However, it is not advisable to apply fertilizer after the flower stems emerge until the end of the flowering period. Do not apply fertilizer during the winter when the temperatures are low to avoid fertilizer accumulation which will burn new roots in the spring. 2. Breeding techniquesDancing orchid is generally propagated by division. It is usually carried out in spring or autumn. The sub-plants with pseudobulbs are cut off and planted in pots with sphagnum moss, and the humidity is maintained high. 3. Pest and disease control1. Diseases: Common diseases include leaf spot and soft rot, which can be controlled by carbendazim or methyl thiophanate solution. 2. Pests: The main pests are snails, scale insects, whiteflies, etc. You can spread lime around and spray omethoate solution for prevention and control. |
