How to plant Tang fan seeds

Soil selection

In order to grow a beautiful Tang fan, we need to prepare a substrate that can meet its growth needs.

The choice of substrate must first consider the fertility of the substrate. If the substrate is too poor and cannot provide sufficient nutrients for plant growth and development, such a substrate cannot be used for planting.

Secondly, the choice of substrate also depends on its air permeability. A substrate with insufficient air permeability cannot provide enough air to support the breathing of seed roots, so the plant will have difficulty germinating or growing.

Finally, the substrate should be selected based on its drainage capacity. If the substrate does not have sufficient drainage capacity, water will accumulate inside, which will not only affect seed germination but also easily cause plant root rot.

To sum up, it is best to choose a substrate with high fertility, smooth ventilation and strong drainage as the planting substrate for Tang fans.

Sowing method

First you need to choose a smaller flower pot. This is because the Tang fan plant is relatively small and does not need to be planted in a too large flowerpot. The pot needs to have ventilation holes at the bottom. If you don’t have a suitable flower pot, you can also choose a small plastic box and use small scissors or a knife to make 3 to 4 small holes in the bottom.

Then put the prepared planting soil into the flowerpot, and then half immerse the flowerpot in water so that the planting soil can absorb water through the air holes at the bottom.

Then remove the flower pot from the water, wipe the water off the outer wall, and set it aside to dry until no water drops drip out of the vents when you lift the flower pot.

Then spread the seeds evenly on the soil surface. Its seeds are very small, and you can use a wet toothpick or a wet small needle to pick up the seeds and apply them to the soil surface.

No covering with soil is required afterwards. If you want to cover the soil, just cover it with a thin layer, and don't cover it too thickly. Because its tiny seeds do not have enough germination power to support normal germination.

Finally, you need to place the entire flower pot in a room that is not exposed to direct sunlight and adjust the room temperature to around 20°C. After one week, you will be able to see its seedlings growing.
