1. Flowering time

Chrysanthemums usually bloom in autumn, but some varieties bloom in summer or winter. Autumn chrysanthemums usually bloom in October and November, and the earliest in mid-to-late September. Summer chrysanthemums can bloom from May to October, and winter chrysanthemums bloom from December to January of the following year.

2. Appearance characteristics

There are many varieties of chrysanthemums and their shapes vary greatly. Its petals are divided into two types, the tubular flowers in the center of the flower and the ligulate flowers at the edge of the inflorescence. There are many shapes of ligulate flowers, which are divided into five types: flat petals, spoon-shaped petals, tubular petals, osmanthus petals and abnormal petals. The colors of flowers include red, pink, yellow, purple, white, etc. Some flowers have multiple colors.

The petals of chrysanthemum have certain edible value. It is made from a paste made from pork and cane sugar, with a few chrysanthemum petals glued to each piece. It can not only relieve greasiness but also has a certain fragrance. In addition, there are foods such as chrysanthemum porridge, chrysanthemum tea, and chrysanthemum cake, all of which have the aroma of chrysanthemum and have a unique flavor.

Chrysanthemum has a very rich meaning in our country. Due to the love and praise of Tao Yuanming, a famous scholar in the Eastern Jin Dynasty, it was given the title of "Hermit of Flowers". In addition, the custom of climbing high places to admire chrysanthemums on the Double Ninth Festival also makes it a symbol of longevity. White chrysanthemums also mean mourning the dead, so don’t give them to anyone casually.
