Maintenance method of baby's breath

Maintenance method of baby's breath

Gypsophila paniculata , known for its rich colors and elegant fragrance, is an extremely attractive plant. They are not only suitable as interior decoration to increase the beauty of the living space, but can also be creatively made into dried flowers and sandwiched between the pages of books to add a literary atmosphere to reading time. Let’s learn how to care for baby’s breath below.

1. Soil selection

Gypsophila has high requirements for soil and needs slightly alkaline sandy soil with good drainage and strong air permeability. You can use peat soil mixed with perlite , moisten the soil before planting, and keep the soil moist after planting.

2. Water and fertilizer management

Gypsophila loves a humid environment, but is also drought-resistant. Watering needs to be moderate to avoid excessive waterlogging. High nutrients are required during the growth period. It is recommended to apply nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium compound fertilizer once every half a month. Pay attention to the fertilizer concentration and application frequency to prevent excessive growth or root burn.

3. Lighting requirements

Gypsophila loves light and needs sufficient sunlight, at least four hours a day. The suitable growth temperature is 15-25 degrees Celsius. It needs to be placed in direct sunlight in winter and spring, and in the summer it should be shaded to avoid direct strong ultraviolet rays.

4. Pest and disease control

Gypsophila is susceptible to gray mold, which manifests as brown spots on the leaves and can cause the plant to die in severe cases. During the breeding process, attention should be paid to ventilation and avoid humid environments. Once the disease occurs, wet powder can be used for treatment, but prevention is more critical.

The above is the maintenance method of baby's breath. Although baby's breath is a supporting role in many flower bouquets, its charm is hard to ignore.
