How to fertilize Croton

How to fertilize Croton

1. Fertilization after layering propagation

Croton is a common plant in southern gardens. It likes direct sunlight and does not like severe cold weather in winter. If the Croton is successfully transplanted and grown in a flower pot, when transplanting it to the new pot, mix fertilizers containing nitrogen and phosphorus into the soil of the new pot at the same time. The fertilizer should be added once every half a month, and then the new Croton should be placed in a position where it is exposed to direct sunlight. This will be more conducive to the healthy growth of the new Croton.

2. Fertilization after cutting propagation

The best time to propagate Croton by cuttings is at the end of spring and the beginning of autumn. When planting new Croton in flower pots, in addition to ordinary leaf mold and garden soil, you can also use river bottom silt. Before cutting, use a watering can to take clean water several times, wash the soil in the flower pot, and then mix it with fertilizers containing nitrogen and phosphorus. The fertilizer is added once every half a month, and then the new Croton is placed in a position directly exposed to sunlight. It needs to be moved indoors and outdoors, and cannot be exposed to strong sunlight for a long time. This is more conducive to the healthy growth of the new Croton.

3. Fertilization for daily maintenance

Croton should be placed in a position where direct sunlight is exposed. Water the leaves of the Croton appropriately and water the soil with a watering can. At the same time, water the floor in the room to keep the floor moist. Keep the air indoors humid, open doors and windows to speed up air circulation. If you want the Croton to grow stronger and have more plump leaves, in addition to watering, you can also add natural fertilizers such as fermented bean curd residue, animal bone meal, and soaked tea leaves to the soil. These fertilizers are easy to find and convenient to add. Of course, you can also directly buy fertilizers containing nitrogen and phosphorus on the market, and then mix them into the soil of the Croton. The fertilizer should be added once every half a month, and then the Croton should be placed in a position directly exposed to sunlight. This will be more conducive to the healthy growth of the new Croton.
