Cultivation methods and precautions of Millettia reticulata

Cultivation methods and precautions of Millettia reticulata

1. Soil

Chicken blood vine is not too demanding on soil and can grow in ordinary soil. However, it will grow better in soil that is breathable, well-drained and contains sufficient nutrients. Especially for potted cultivation, it is recommended to choose soil of good quality. You can use leaf mold and mix it with some river sand to prepare it for use.

2. Temperature

Chicken blood vine likes warmth, and it is best to keep the temperature between twenty and thirty degrees. It has very poor cold tolerance, so it must be kept indoors in winter. If conditions permit, it is best to keep it in a greenhouse to avoid frostbite.

3. Lighting

Millettia reticulata does not require much light and has good shade tolerance, so it is sufficient to provide appropriate scattered light at ordinary times. The breeding location should not have strong direct light. In winter, the sunlight hours can be longer and no shade is needed.

4. Fertilization

Millettia requires fertilizer during its growth period, but not much. Generally, once every half a month is enough, and the concentration of fertilizer needs to be adjusted lower. In order to prevent fertilizer damage, you can also water the plants after fertilizing, which will be more conducive to plant absorption.

5. Prevention and control of pests and diseases

The main disease is "root rot", which is more common in the rainy season and is also prone to occur after excessive watering. It can be treated with carbendazim if it occurs. The main insect pests are the larvae of beetles, which will bite the stems, leaves and other parts of the plant, hindering its growth. It is best to eliminate them with pesticides in time.
