Holly cultivation methods and precautions

Holly cultivation methods and precautions

1. Soil

During the breeding period, it is necessary to provide it with fertile and permeable soil, which is more conducive to its growth. In general, ordinary river sand, garden soil or humus containing leaf mold can be used, and the soil requirements are relatively low.

2. Watering

Usually keep the soil in the pot slightly moist, but not too dry. Especially in spring and autumn, you can water it appropriately, but be careful not to water it too much and avoid water accumulation, so as not to affect its growth. In summer, you can water it more often, or sprinkle water on its leaves to help it cool down. Maintaining a certain humidity is also more conducive to its growth.

3. Fertilization

In spring and autumn, you can apply appropriate flower fertilizers. Fertilizer containing nitrogen can be applied once every month. Note that the concentration should be as low as possible. It is best to use diluted fertilizer solution.

4. Lighting

It is shade tolerant but also needs sun exposure. During the breeding period, you can expose it to more sunlight and give it scattered light. In addition, it needs to be shaded in summer to avoid sunburn and affect its normal growth.

5. Temperature

It likes to grow in places with temperatures between -10 and 30 degrees Celsius and is relatively cold-resistant. However, in the summer, you should be careful not to let the temperature get too high. It is best to place it in a cool environment or a place with good air circulation to help it grow more vigorously.

6. Notes

It should be noted that when the branches grow vigorously, they need to be pruned appropriately to avoid excessive consumption of nutrients and help them grow better.
