Time to repot hibiscus

Hibiscus needs to be repotted after being cared for for a period of time. If the pot is not changed, the nutrients in the original soil in the pot have been absorbed, and it will be difficult to absorb nutrients during the later growth. The time for repotting can be chosen in spring, when the temperature is stable at around 20 degrees, which is more conducive to growth.

How to repot hibiscus

1. Get out of the flowerpot

Before repotting the hibiscus, you can dry it out. Stop watering and keep the soil dry to reduce root damage. Pat the sides of the pot with your hands to make the soil loose. Hold the pot with one hand and take the hibiscus out of the pot with the other hand. Be careful during the process and do not damage the roots.

2. Prune the roots

After the hibiscus flower is removed from the pot, the roots can be trimmed. Proper pruning will help its later growth. In addition to cutting off some rotten roots and dead roots, part of the overly dense roots can also be cut shorter. After pruning, place it in a well-ventilated place to allow the wounds to dry.

3. Prepare soil for planting

When repotting hibiscus, you can choose a larger pot, disinfect it in advance to remove the germs inside, use ordinary nutrient soil, and then put a layer of base fertilizer in the pot, fill part of the soil in, and then plant the hibiscus in it, fill the soil around it, water it thoroughly after planting, and then place it in a place with scattered light for maintenance.

Things to note when repotting hibiscus

Newly planted hibiscus flowers need to be watered thoroughly once, slowly until water flows out from the bottom of the pot, then move the pot to a cool and ventilated place to slow down the growth. After a week, if the leaves of the hibiscus flower are still upright and healthy, you can move it to a well-lit place to get more sunlight, and water it when the soil is dry.
