Will tulips freeze to death in winter?

Will tulips freeze to death in winter?

1. Will I freeze to death?

Tulips are very cold-resistant and will not freeze to death even in temperatures as low as -14 degrees Celsius in winter. If they are properly cared for and the temperature is suitable, they may even bloom around the Spring Festival. However, if you want it to grow better next year, it is best to move it indoors for the winter to avoid being affected by low temperatures.

2. Maintenance methods

1. Light: It likes light very much and should be placed in a sunny place during maintenance. If it does not need light, it is easy to bud and cause poor growth, and the flowering period will be shortened. However, if it has just been planted in a pot, it should be shaded and normal maintenance should be carried out after the middle bulb sprouts new roots.

2. Watering: During the maintenance period, the soil in the pot should be kept moist, but water should not accumulate. Especially in winter, once water accumulates, the bulbs will easily rot and fail to survive.

3. Fertilization: Its growth cannot be separated from fertilizer, especially during the bulb expansion period and before and after flowering. Fertilization should be done frequently, but be careful not to make the concentration of the fertilizer too high. Use decomposed cake fertilizer or bone meal. Concentrated fertilizer can easily burn the plants and be detrimental to their growth.

4. Temperature: It is cold-resistant and can grow well as long as the temperature is above 8 degrees. But be careful when the temperature is high, keep it in the shade and away from light and move it indoors. When it blooms, you can provide it with a suitable low temperature environment to make the flowering period last longer.
