The snake plant in my neighbor's house has grown to 1 meter tall and is both blooming and bearing fruit! Yours doesn’t grow long, what’s going on?

Common problems and solutions for growing tiger lilies

Root rot:

1. If you water too much and the soil in the pot is too wet, the accumulation of water will cause the roots of the snake plant to rot.

2. When encountering this situation, first remove the Sansevieria from the pot and wash the roots with clean water.

3. Use sterilized scissors to cut off the rotten roots. Be sure to clean them thoroughly, otherwise it will lead to reinfection.

4. Soak the roots of the processed snake plant in carbendazim or 0.1% potassium permanganate solution for half an hour for disinfection.

5. After disinfection, place the snake plant in a cool and ventilated place to dry the wound. After drying, place it in clean water to induce roots.

6. After the snake plant grows new roots, you can transplant it into a pot.

Rotten leaves:

1. The rotten leaves of Sansevieria are also caused by the wrong watering method. What should you do if you encounter this problem?

2. Cut off the leaf where the rotten part is located. Don't feel sorry, otherwise the rotten spot will continue to spread.

3. After cutting it off, apply some carbendazim on the wounds of the remaining intact snake plant leaves for disinfection.

4. When watering in the future, be careful not to water the leaves, and try to water on the soil surface.

Dried yellow soft leaves:

1. Too much light or too little watering can cause the leaves of the snake plant to become dry and yellow.

2. Tiger Piranha does not need too strong light, otherwise the leaves will become dry and white. Be sure to place it in a place with scattered light at home.

3. The leaves of Sansevieria become soft, which is usually due to too little watering. It only needs to be watered once every 15 days or so.

Tiger Pilan maintenance guide

illumination:

1. Sansevieria is relatively shade-tolerant and does not require too much light. Scattered light can meet its needs.

2. Usually we can just put the Sansevieria in the living room. In summer, we must pay attention to avoid exposure to the sun and provide shade.

Watering:

1. Tiger Piranha likes moisture, but you can't water it too much, otherwise the leaves will become too hard.

2. In spring and autumn, you can water the plants once every 10 days; in summer, you only need to water the plants once every 7 to 10 days, and in winter, you don’t need to water the plants.

3. If you really don’t know whether to water the plant, you can dig 2 to 3 cm down from the soil surface. If that part of the soil is dry, you should water it.

Fertilization:

1. The fertilizer requirements of Sansevieria are not too high. When the temperature reaches above 20 ℃, the growth rate of Sansevieria will accelerate. At this time, we can apply fertilizer to promote growth.

2. Usually, just mix 1:30 of decomposed rice water and clean water and water it.

3. You can also buy compound fertilizer and apply it once a month. Dig a small hole beside the pot and bury 2-3 grains each time.

4. If you want to make the leaves greener, we can spray 0.1% potassium dihydrogen phosphate solution on the leaves of the snake plant once every 2 to 3 weeks.

soil:

1. The soil for growing Sansevieria should be loose and breathable, with good drainage capabilities.

2. Mix leaf mold and river sand in a ratio of 1:1.

How to propagate Tiger Pilan

Cuttings:

1. Cut the snake plant leaves into small sections of 5 to 10 cm and place them in a cool and ventilated place to dry.

2. Insert the dried Sansevieria leaves into the watered sandy soil to take root.

3. After the roots have grown, transplant them into pots.

Division:

1. Cut off water one week before division, then remove the plant from the pot, clean the soil around the roots, and separate each Sansevieria plant.

2. Apply carbendazim to the cleaned roots of the snake plant for disinfection, and then place it in a cool and ventilated place to dry.

3. Prepare new soil (leaf mold: river sand = 1:1) and plant the snake plant into the pots respectively.

Through our careful care, the snake plant will not only bloom, but also bear fruit!
