What to do if the leaves of Magnolia turn yellow

What to do if the leaves of Magnolia turn yellow

The reason for this phenomenon

The first is insect pests. There may be a kind of red spider that will constantly suck liquid from the leaves of the plant, resulting in yellowing of the leaves.

The second is disease. Specifically, this disease is called "chlorosis". As the name suggests, it will cause the leaves of the plant to turn yellow.

The third is that the pH value of the potting soil is too high, or the water used for watering is alkaline, because this plant prefers to grow in acidic soil. If the pH value exceeds the specified value, the plant leaves may turn yellow and even the root system may be endangered.

Fourth, we should first know that this plant is very afraid of waterlogging. This may also happen if we water too much, causing the soil in the pot to be very wet and lasting too long. So, this is also a possible reason.

Prevention and control measures

For diseases and pests, which are the first and second reasons, there are special pesticides for them, which I will not explain in detail here.

As for the third method, we can choose a solution with a concentration of 0.2% (FeSO4) to spray the leaf surface, and the frequency can be controlled to once every five days or a week.

So, for the fourth type, what we need to do is water reasonably and scientifically. Generally speaking, this plant is afraid of both drought and waterlogging, and we can decide whether to water it by observing its flowers. If the petals expand outward excessively, it means that the plant is short of water; on the contrary, if the flower is in bud, it means that there is enough water.
