Cutting propagationCuttings are usually carried out in mid-to-late March of the year, and can also be carried out in summer. For summer cuttings, semi-lignified fig branches can be selected. Summer cuttings usually take root in just one month. If you choose to do cuttings in mid-to-late March, you must carefully select the branches. Generally, choose one to three years old strong branches that have not sprouted. When you cut these branches, the length should be generally between thirty and fifty centimeters. Insert the cuttings diagonally into the soil, about two-thirds of the way in, then fill the soil firmly and water it immediately, making sure to keep the soil moist. When carrying out cutting propagation, you can also bury the cuttings in wet fine sand and gravel, and then carry out cuttings when callus tissue is formed at the cut of the branch. Propagation by divisionDivision propagation is generally carried out between February and March. When carrying out division propagation, dig up the soil at the roots of the figs. At this time, some root seedlings will sprout from the roots of the figs. We need to cut and dig out these root seedlings together with the roots. After digging them out, plant these roots directly in the soil to complete the division propagation of the figs. Layering propagationThe layering propagation of figs is actually the same as the slimming propagation of ordinary flowers and plants. Bury the branches of figs close to the ground in the soil. When roots grow out of the nodes of the branches in the soil, you can cut off the branches, and then plant the new branches with roots into the soil and take good care of them. |
