Planting time and technology of soybean in northern China

Planting time and technology of soybean in northern China

1. Planting time

Soybean planting in the north is mainly in spring and autumn. It is more suitable to plant around the Qingming Festival in spring, as planting at this time is conducive to seed germination and growth. Spring soybeans in the north are generally sown in April and May, and summer soybeans are more suitable to be sown in mid-to-late June. There are differences between climates, so the planting time also needs to be adjusted specifically.

2. Seeding and Seedling Raising

Prepare suitable soybean seeds. High-quality seeds can increase the survival rate after sowing. Prepare a loose and well-ventilated seedbed, moisten the seedbed before sowing, sow the treated seeds, cover the seeds with a thin layer of soil, water to maintain good humidity, and promote the germination of soybean seedlings. Carefully cultivate and wait for the soybeans to germinate, and transplant them when the sprouts grow to 4-5 cm.

3. Transplanting

Soybeans have strong adaptability and are not very demanding on soil quality, making them suitable for growing in many types of soil. Choose the right soil for planting, prepare the land and deep plow it in advance, sprinkle medicine to treat the soil in advance, and sprinkle an appropriate amount of farmyard manure as base fertilizer. Transplant the soybeans into the soil, keeping a good spacing, with each plant 30-50 cm apart.

4. Field Management

After planting the soybean seedlings, they should be watered. After a week, thinning and reseeding should be done, and seedlings that are not growing well should be pulled out to fill in the gaps. After that, the seedlings should be tilled and weeded every week or so. The growth of soybeans requires certain nutrients and needs to be fertilized reasonably. Apply base fertilizer during planting and fertilize again when the soybeans bloom and form pods to ensure a good supply of nutrients.
