When is the best time to plant jasmine cuttings?

Jasmine cutting time

Jasmine can be propagated by cuttings from April to October every year, but it is recommended to be propagated around March to April in spring because the environment is suitable, the temperature is high, the precipitation is moderate, and jasmine is in its growth period. Cuttings at this time can easily increase the survival rate and the rooting time will be greatly shortened.

Jasmine cutting method

1. Select branches : Choose jasmine plants that are healthy and growing well, then cut thick, insect-free, 1-2 year old branches as cuttings, cut the bottom into an inclined surface, remove the leaves on the lower part of the flower branch, soak the incision in rooting water, and then place it in a ventilated place to dry.

2. Choose soil : Choose acidic sandy soil. You can mix it with vermiculite, river sand and leaf mold, and then disinfect it after preparation.

3. Carry out cuttings : prepare the soil, poke a few holes with a stick, and cut the jasmine branches into the soil. Gently cover the soil and compact it, water it thoroughly, and place it in a scattered light place to promote the rooting of the jasmine branches.

Precautions for Jasmine Cuttings

After the jasmine is grafted, maintain a good surrounding temperature. It is strictly forbidden to apply fertilizer before rooting, otherwise the cuttings will easily rot. After the cuttings are successful, leaves will grow in about 25 days and roots will grow in about two months.

After jasmine cuttings, the soil moisture should be maintained and water should be sprayed regularly. After about three weeks, low-concentration liquid fertilizer should be applied. At this time, it should still be placed in dim light to avoid direct sunlight. After rooting, it can be transplanted and cultivated.
