Xia Xia’s dream of renting a house with a terrace was temporarily shattered.

After some twists and turns, Xia Xia finally found a small courtyard of the right size.

The sunny little courtyard looks very warm.

After negotiating with the landlord, signing the contract, negotiating the price and moving went very smoothly.

Xia Xia finally moved into her new home as she wished!

Because it is a rented house, for this small garden,

Xiaxia's idea is to make it able to accommodate the previous plants and some gardening groceries.

In order to make rational use of existing items, make the best use of them, and match them together, Xia Xia made a little plan.

In the early days of garden renovation, Xia Xia was most happy because she had a roommate named Hezi who loved gardens and plants.

This way you can create a garden together!

The first step is to build a simple pergola.

Because the double arches existed before the terrace,

The style is quite large and it would not be suitable to be placed anywhere else, so a pergola was made with bamboo.

Then iron mesh was added to make it easier for plants to climb.

By the second year, the roses had covered half of the trellis!

Under the west wall, a row of hydrangeas and clematis are planted at intervals.

Xia Xia and He Zi worked day and night to dig holes and finally planted them all!

Their hard work certainly wasn’t in vain.

When the clematis and hydrangea bloom, it’s such a pleasant surprise!

For the hydrangea variety, Xia Xia chose Bella Anna.

The hydrangea planted in the ground grew vigorously and looked like a big ball when it bloomed.

In order to make the most of the space, Xiaxia is located at the entrance to the garden.

Another wooden arch was built to divide the two areas.

There is a yellow Thomas rose planted next to the arch, and it climbed up the arch not long after being planted!

By the time they bloomed, the roses had already covered the entire trellis.

The bright yellow color makes people happy just by looking at it!

On the left side of the arch, Xia Xia used old chairs, wine boxes and semicircular rattan racks that she had picked up.

The combination is a small flower pot, showing great hands-on ability!

Xia Xia really likes the European-style wooden square tower, but because there is no one for sale,

So she and Tsuruko went to the timber market.

I bought some antiseptic wood and prepared to make one.

This is easier said than done. It took two people several days to build it successfully.

Finally, add a coat of paint and you’re done!

Placing the finished square tower in the garden will not only allow the roses to climb up along the tower,

Placing a small object on the square tower will instantly elevate the garden to a higher level of style!

The most annoying thing in a garden is naturally weeds.

If you want to completely solve this problem, it is best to transform the entire soil surface.

Unfortunately, the cost is too high for a rented house.

So Xia Xia chose to lay a layer of weed-proof cloth.

He also laid pebbles and red bricks on the weed-proof cloth, turning it into a natural path.

Under the pergola, Xia Xia wanted a romantic floor tile pavement.

After consulting various materials, Xia Xia chose a circle.

It took me 2-3 hours to succeed!

Place two light green chairs on the floor tiles and a small wooden table.

This is the place where Xia Xia and He Zi like to stay most in their spare time.

The most indispensable thing for a small garden is water, right?

Xia Xia originally wanted to buy a small Japanese-style water faucet.

Later, at the instigation of a friend, I bought materials at a hardware store and made one myself.

In addition to various ground-planted plants, don’t miss out on small countertops, plant some shade-tolerant green plants!

After half a year of intermittent gardening experience, Hezi couldn't help but sigh,

Because living with plants is a particularly healing thing.

Buying a house and owning your own home may be an option.

But Xia Xia hopes that wherever she is, that is home.

Sometimes, Xia Xia would worry about the future of the courtyard after the lease expires.

But I also vaguely expect some different possibilities.
