Planting technology of golden olive

Golden Fruit Olive is one of the common Chinese medicinal materials with relatively high medicinal value. It is distributed in Sichuan, Hunan, Guangxi, Guizhou and other places in China. It is often scattered under forests, on forest edges, in bamboo forests and on grasslands . Below, I will introduce the planting techniques of golden olive, let’s take a look.

1. Site selection

It is necessary to choose a suitable planting site. Golden olive grows best in a warm and humid environment, so it is necessary to choose land with plenty of sunlight and good drainage. At the same time, the pH value of the soil should be moderate, with slightly acidic soil being preferred, which is conducive to the growth and development of golden olive.

2. Breeding method

① Root division

When digging in spring from March to April, cut the underground rhizomes into small sections of 10-20cm, plant them in the soil, and sow them in holes with a row spacing of 50cm and a plant spacing of 25cm. Pay attention to watering to retain moisture, and new buds will appear after one month.

② Cutting

In May, cut the above-ground part into segments. Each segment must have two to three nodes. Insert the next one to two nodes into the soil and plant them according to the above-mentioned plant spacing and row spacing. After planting, pay attention to shade and moisturizing.

3. Field management

After planting, water the plants once to allow them to take root. The plants cannot be watered for a long time, nor can they be dry for a long time. If there is no rain for a week, water them once every 2-3 days until the plants are fully rooted in around January. This greatly increases the survival rate. Golden olive trees need to be weeded 3-4 times a year, once a quarter. After each weeding, you can apply appropriate amounts of fertilizer on rainy days. Farmyard manure is preferred, but other fertilizers can also be used. Pest control is required in a timely manner when pests are serious.

4. Pest and disease control

The prevention and control of diseases and pests is also a link that cannot be ignored. Check the growth of golden olive regularly, and take timely measures to prevent and control any diseases or pests found. A combination of biological and chemical control can be used to ensure the healthy growth of golden olive.

5. Notes

Before planting golden olives, the land must be deeply plowed and carefully cultivated to ensure that the soil is loose and breathable. At the same time, sufficient base fertilizer should be applied to provide sufficient nutrients for the growth of golden olive. During the planting process, pay attention to maintaining appropriate plant spacing and row spacing to facilitate ventilation, light transmission and prevention and control of diseases and pests.

The above is the planting technique of golden fruit olive. Golden fruit olive likes a humid environment, but waterlogging should also be avoided. Therefore, when planting golden fruit olive, timely irrigation and drainage should be carried out according to weather and soil conditions.
