1. Leaf DifferenceThe leaves of white clover have palmately trifoliate compound leaves, ovate-lanceolate stipules, membranous, sheath-like base, and sharp tips of petioles; its petiole is relatively long, 10 to 30 cm long, and the leaflets are obovate or nearly round, 8 to 20 mm long and 8 to 16 mm wide. The tip of the leaves is obtuse or concave, and the base is cuneate and gradually narrows to the petiole. The leaves of Oxalis are basal or alternate on the stems. The stipules are very small, oblong or ovate. The edges of the leaves are densely covered with long soft hairs. The base is fused with the petiole and has three leaflets. The leaflets are inverted heart-shaped and sessile. 2. Flower DifferencesThe flowers of white clover are spherical, terminal, about 15 to 40 mm straight, with 20 to 50 flowers, lanceolate bracts, white, creamy yellow or light red corolla, and fragrant. The flowers of Oxalis are solitary or several flowers are gathered in umbels, axillary, with light pink peduncle and 5 petals, which are yellow, oblong and obovate. |
