The difference between pomelo and grapefruit

1. Leaf Difference

The young leaves of Pomelo are usually dark purple-red, quite thick, dark green in color, broadly ovate or elliptical, with wing leaves 9 to 16 cm long and 4 to 8 cm wide. The leaf apex is obtuse or rounded, and some leaves have short tips. The base of the leaves is rounded, and the wing leaves are 2 to 4 cm long and 0.5 to 3 cm wide.

Grapefruit leaves are large, oval, thick and leathery, with winged leaves. The leaves are dark green and have a shiny surface.

2. Flower Differences

The pomelo has a raceme inflorescence, sometimes with single axillary flowers. The buds are light purple-red, vaguely milky white, the calyx has 3 to 5 irregular shallow lobes, the petals are 1.5 to 2 cm long, and the flowers are white.

Grapefruit flowers are small, white, and borne in cymes.

3. Fruit Difference

The fruit of Shatian Pomelo is spherical, pear-shaped, oblate or broadly conical, with a diameter usually over 10 cm. It is light yellow or yellow-green in color, with a spongy peel, large, convex oil cells, 10 to 15 or more lobes in the fruit center, and the juice cells are white, pink or bright red, with a small amount of milky yellow.

Grapefruit fruit is spherical or oblate, with yellow skin and light reddish white flesh.
