Cutting propagation of Shrimp Flower

The cuttings of Shrimp Flower can be carried out in all seasons, mainly in spring and summer. Cuttings need to be shaded and moisturized in summer. First, cut the current year's healthy spikelets with 2-3 internodes as cuttings. Both old branches and young branches can be used for cuttings, but under the same temperature conditions, young branches will take root faster. Suitable cutting media include yellow sand, vermiculite or perlite, and they should be disinfected and sterilized. Insert the base node into the substrate. The room temperature should be kept below 20℃. It will take root in about 10 days and bloom the following year. After the cuttings have taken root, they should be transplanted into pots in time and properly shaded. After new leaves grow out, they can be moved to a sunny place.

Seed propagation of Shrimp Flower

First of all, you need to choose seeds. It is best to use seeds harvested that year to ensure the germination rate of seeds. Choose shrimp flower seeds that are full and free of diseases and pests. Then soak the seeds in warm water for about 12-24 hours until the seeds absorb water and swell. For smaller seeds, you can use a toothpick with one end wetted in water to pick up the seeds, and then stick them one by one on the surface of the substrate, covering the soil to a depth of about 1 cm. Then put the sowing pot into the water, the depth of the water should be 1/2-2/3 of the height of the pot, and let the water slowly soak up. For larger seeds, you can place them directly into the substrate and sow them at intervals of 3×5 cm. The depth of soil covering is about 2-3 times that of the seeds. After sowing, you can use a sprayer to wet the substrate, and then water it when the soil in the pot is slightly dry. At the same time, you should pay attention to controlling the intensity of watering to avoid washing away the seeds due to excessive force.
