The difference between alpine banyan and large-leaf banyan

1. The difference of leaves

The mountain banyan, also known as the black banyan and red flesh banyan, is a large evergreen tree with green leaves all year round. The leaf shape is broadly ovate to broadly ovate-elliptical, about 10 to 19 cm long, about 8 to 11 cm wide, with 5 to 7 pairs of lateral veins. The petiole is relatively thick, about 2 to 5 cm long, and covered with small gray hairs.

The large-leafed banyan is a large deciduous tree that sheds its leaves in autumn. The leaves are ovate or broadly ovate in shape, and are relatively small, about 10 to 15 cm long, about 4 to 7 cm wide, with 7 to 10 lateral veins on each side.

2. The difference of flowers

The flower of the mountain banyan is ovoid in shape, about 1.5 to 2.5 cm long and about 1.5 to 2 cm wide.

The flowers of the large-leafed banyan are 5 to 8 mm in diameter, yellow or red when ripe, and the flowering and fruiting period occurs throughout the year.
