How to grow banyan bonsai

1. Lighting

Banyan bonsai has a unique shape and is evergreen all year round, so it is very popular among people. When maintaining banyan bonsai at home, you need to pay attention to the following issues. The first is the placement. Banyan tree is a plant that is not drought-resistant but tolerant to water and humidity, and likes light and warmth, so when maintaining it, be sure to place it in a sunny environment. As a bonsai, the soil and root system of the banyan tree are relatively small, so its ability to tolerate the environment is relatively poor. In this case, if it is in the summer, we still need to shade it appropriately, or adjust it to a position with bright light but no direct sunlight. Apart from that, it should be placed in a well-lit place. If there is insufficient light, the branches of the banyan tree will grow too long, and more leaves will fall off, and even in severe cases, the entire banyan bonsai will die.

2. Water

Note that the banyan tree would rather be wet than dry, and it absorbs water very well, so make sure the soil in the pot is slightly moist when watering. Do not leave too long an interval between waterings to allow the soil to completely dry out. Generally speaking, the frequency and amount of watering can be slightly reduced during winter dormancy, and the frequency and amount of watering should be sufficient during the growing season or high temperatures in summer.

3. Fertilizer

Banyan trees have a relatively large demand for fertilizer during the maintenance process, but when maintaining bonsai, we hope that its shape is less damaged, so the fertilizer should be controlled moderately. Change the pot and soil once every one to two years to achieve the purpose of supplementing fertilizer. In the northern region, yellow leaves will occur due to alkalinity, which can be regulated with nitrogen fertilizer water.

4. Pruning

And pruning should be done during the growing season to prevent its shape from being destroyed. The type of plant is also very important.
