Cultivation methods and precautions of Jade Leaf

Cultivation methods and precautions of Jade Leaf

Jade Plant, this exquisite and beautiful potted plant, can be shaped into a mini bonsai or grown into a small indoor tree, adding a touch of natural beauty and interest to the home environment. It has strong vitality, and if a pot of Jade Plant is properly maintained, it can last for a long time with almost no need for excessive management. Let’s take a brief look at the cultivation methods and precautions of Jade Plant.

1. Lighting

Jade Plant has certain requirements for light, but strong direct sunlight should be avoided. It is recommended to place it on the inside of the balcony to enjoy gentle diffuse light. Pay special attention to sun protection in summer, and in winter it should be placed in a warm and sunny place, avoiding cold and strong winds to prevent frostbite.

2. Watering

Jade plant is drought-resistant but not waterlogged, so watering should not be too frequent. A slightly drier soil is more conducive to its growth. Watering can be increased appropriately during the spring growth period, but it should be placed in a well-ventilated place afterwards to allow the water to evaporate quickly and avoid water accumulation. In low and high temperature seasons, the amount of watering should be appropriately controlled.

3. Fertilization

Spring is the peak growth period for Jade Plant. At this time, apply an appropriate amount of slow-release fertilizer or organic fertilizer and mix it evenly with the soil. It does not require frequent fertilization, and if the soil itself is fertile, it may not even require fertilization throughout the year.

If the Jade Plant starts to shed leaves, you should check the condition of the soil in the pot, avoid over-watering, control the water content appropriately, and wait until the soil in the pot is dry before watering again. At the same time, make sure the plants are placed in a semi-shaded and ventilated place to avoid being in a dark and poorly ventilated environment for a long time. If necessary, spray carbendazim and trim off withered branches and leaves to promote the growth of new leaves.

Pruning of Jade Plant should be done after the plant grows strong. In the early stage, it should be allowed to grow freely, and then trimmed and shaped after the trunk becomes strong to avoid excessive growth, and the light should be increased appropriately. The plant shape can be adjusted according to personal preference, and overly long or leggy branches can be cut off to maintain the beautiful shape of the plant.
