How to cultivate Asparagus cochinchinensis

How to cultivate Asparagus cochinchinensis

1. Soil

It can grow well outdoors, so it has almost no requirements for soil, but it is best to provide it with well-drained, loose and fertile soil. In addition, pay attention to burying the plants deeper when planting so that their roots can better absorb nutrients.

2. Watering

Its roots are fleshy and afraid of waterlogging. Do not water it too frequently during management to avoid waterlogging and root rot. Water the plants thoroughly at normal times, once every two or three days is enough. If the temperature is high in summer, increase the frequency appropriately.

3. Lighting

It likes light but is afraid of strong light. It should be placed in a semi-shaded place during normal care, especially in summer. It should be shaded in time, otherwise the light will be too strong and will burn the leaves.

4. Fertilization

May to September every year is its peak growth season, so you need to apply fertilizer frequently, about once every half a month. But be careful to use a low concentration of fertilizer, as concentrated fertilizer will burn its roots and affect its growth. Fertilization can apply an appropriate amount of nitrogen fertilizer to make the leaves greener.

5. Notes

During the maintenance period, you should remember to repot it once a year. It grows fast, so you need to replace it with a larger pot and new soil. Repotting should be done in spring, and old and rotten roots should be cut off to reduce nutrient loss so that the plant can grow more vigorously.
