How to grow ivy

How to grow ivy

1. Lighting

Ivy is a shade-loving plant. The light should not be too strong. It can be placed in a place with slightly brighter diffuse light. It is best to grow it outdoors under trees that provide shade. It can grow normally under the shade of the trees. If it is completely exposed to direct sunlight, its growth will be inhibited.

2. Water

Ivy requires sufficient water, and the humidity around it must also be relatively high. In addition, the soil must always be kept moist and must not become dry.

3. Temperature

The room temperature for ivy to grow is around 25℃. It will stop growing if it is below 5℃, and it will be dormant if it is below 0℃ or above 35℃, so be sure to keep it in the ideal temperature range.

4. Ventilation

The growth of ivy requires proper ventilation, but the ventilation should not be too strong, as it will affect the humidity around it and cause poor growth. At the same time, if it is completely shaded and lacks ventilation, it is also prone to pests and diseases such as scale insects and sooty mold, so there must be moderate ventilation.

5. Fertilizer

Ivy does not have high requirements for fertilizer levels. During the maintenance process, we can dilute it with thin liquid fertilizer once a month to meet its growth needs.

6. Repotting

The root system of ivy is not particularly deep, it mainly has shallow root systems, so when we maintain it, we generally update the potting soil once every two or three years to meet its growth needs.
