How to Identify Tuberose

How to Identify Tuberose

1. Blades

Tuberose has basal leaves, about 6-9 in clusters, linear, about 40-60 cm long, about 1 cm wide, with a pointed tip, and the leaves are dark green in color. The leaves on the flower stems are scattered and gradually become smaller into bracts upwards.

2. Flowers

Tuberose has spike-like inflorescences growing at the top, with each bract containing 2 flowers. The bracts are green, the flowers are milky white, and have a strong fragrance. They are about 3.5-7 cm long. The tepals are about 2.5-4.5 cm long, with a slightly curved base. The tepals and lobes are similar in shape, both oblong-lanceolate, about 1.2-2 cm long. The stamens grow in the perianth tube, the style is slender, and the stigma is 3-lobed. The flowering period is from July to September.
